Anyone for tea?

‘Celebrating Community’ at Beach Haven Community House

To mark the ‘Celebrating Community’ theme of events held recently at their local Community Houses, a group of sixteen tenants from Shepherds Park Village, Birkdale Court and Lancaster Court attended a special High Tea event at Beach Haven Community House, which was arranged for older people living in the Beach Haven and Birkdale community.

The event was organised by the Haumaru Community Manager in conjunction with the manager of both venues. It was also supported by members of staff from Ray White real estate agency, who volunteer regularly at both houses and who assisted in making a bountiful selection of sandwiches and delivering copious cups of teas to the guests.

With musical entertainment and a sing-a-long over tea, our tenants and the other seniors who attended from the area were also updated on the weekly CMA (Companionship and Morning Activities for Seniors) get-togethers held at the same House on Friday mornings. Over great food and conversation, tenants enjoyed meeting up with their fellow Haumaru villagers during what was a truly community-focussed and fun event.

Community Houses are supported and funded by Auckland Council and the Local Boards.
